I really wanted to get the pictures and inscriptions at this cemetery. As it turns out, there are plenty of stones but few inscriptions.
The cemetery is slowly being overtaken again by the Uwharrie National Forest. I guess the Forest takes back what she deems is hers!
The sun was going down when we (the kids and I) were there. It has been warm this winter and with dark coming on, I didn’t want to face the snakes blindly.
One other thing…. we were joined by a black and white cat while we were there. She was a cute little thing and very, very friendly. She wanted in the pictures! When we left, she retreated back to the cemetery and watched us leave. Never fear though, the cemetery is across from the dump where she and another cat are fed (cat food, not trash) and given water daily.
